Helping Youth Access Support, Opportunity, and Stability

Gems to Jewels partners with schools, families, community organizations, and justice-involved systems to support youth who are at risk, underserved, or impacted by the justice system. If you know a young person who could benefit from mentorship, literacy support, workforce exposure, or structured guidance, we welcome your referral. Our programs are designed to meet youth where they are academically, emotionally, and socially while helping them build confidence, skills, and positive pathways forward.

Who Can Be Referred:

We accept referrals for youth who may benefit from additional support, including those who are:
   •    At risk of academic disengagement or detainment
   •    Justice-impacted or formerly detained
   •    Experiencing behavioral, social, or emotional challenges
   •    In need of mentorship, literacy support, or life-skills development
   •    Seeking workforce exposure or career readiness support

Age Range:
   •    Mentorship & Literacy: Ages 14–18
   •    Workforce & Skill-Building Programs: Ages 16 and older 

Who Can Make a Referral

Referrals may be submitted by:
   •    Parents or legal guardians
   •    School staff (teachers, counselors, administrators)
   •    Social workers or case managers
   •    Community-based organizations
   •    Juvenile justice professionals
   •    Faith-based or youth-serving organizations

Self-referrals may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

What Happens After a Referral

Once a referral is submitted:
   1.    Our team reviews the information provided
   2.    A staff member may contact the referring party and/or family for additional details
   3.    Eligibility and program fit are assessed
   4.    If accepted, the youth is connected to the appropriate Gems to Jewels program

All referrals are handled with care, confidentiality, and respect.
